Event Details

DSFC is pleased to host the 10th Annual Buddy Walk®

Sunday, September 24, 1:00pm at

5700 W. Airport Rd., Bloomington, IN  47403

1:00pm: Registration opens and FUN for the whole family begins.
Carnival games, photo booth, inflatables, bounce house, karaoke, & more 
along with food trucks selling delicious food so come hungry!

3:30pm  All games and activities will close and assembly before the Walk begins.

4:00pm: Buddy Walk begins.

The Buddy Walk® will be held rain or shine!

REGISTRATION: Everyone that wants to walk must register and agree to the liability waiver.  You can join a team or create your own team.  Use the menu above to register for the walk.  

T-SHIRTS: are free and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis at the Buddy Walk.

COST: FREE, donations are encouraged and needed! The Buddy Walk® is the main fundraiser of the year for Down Syndrome Family Connection, so please give generously!  You may donate to a particular team, or just make a general donation; click on the "Donate" button above, or the "Register" button if you will be attending the Buddy Walk®. DSFC is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, so donations are tax-deductible.  Any amount is welcome but we suggest a minimum donation  of $21, symbolic of the extra 21st chromosome in individuals with Down syndrome.  Thank you for your support. 

Your $100 contribution will cover the cost of five parent packets to new families and go toward our educational events like the SibShop which provides siblings of individuals with special needs a place to learn more about Down syndrome, to share experiences, and to learn how to handle unique situations.

For $47—a dollar for each chromosome—you can help support one of our social events for self-advocates, like our Splash Pad Summer Party or World Ds Day Dance, which provide safe and fun social opportunities.

For $21—our favorite chromosome—you can support our website and newsletter.  Get a dozen friends to each contribute $21 and sponsor a scholarship for a DSFC family to attend a National or Regional DS conference.

VOLUNTEERS: We need LOTS of helpers before, during and after the Buddy Walk®We have jobs of all sizes and for any ability!  
We welcome youth volunteers but anyone under 16 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian.

ABOUT THE BUDDY WALK: The Buddy Walk® was developed by the National Down Syndrome Society in 1995 to celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness Month in October and to promote acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome.  The Buddy Walk® has grown from 17 Walks in 1995 to nearly 300 Walks planned for 2015 worldwide.  In 2014, nearly $13 million was raised nationwide to benefit local programs and services, as well as the national advocacy and public awareness initiatives of NDSS that benefit all individuals with Down syndrome.  Each Buddy Walk event is required to give 7% of funds raised to NDSS, which directly supports the NDSS National Policy Center.

The team that displays the most spirit and excitement about the Buddy Walk - will win a special prize (details later).  

Suggested ways to show your team spirit:  holding your own special fundraiser or team-building event prior to the Buddy Walk (email event details and photos to "" by midnight 9/21). Or day of the walk:  unique shirts/attire, special balloons, signs, wagons, etc.…  make  your spirit impossible to miss at the Buddy Walk! :)
